  1. I like Ana Locking - some of her accessories are just fierce! But unfortunately, looking at these looks from her student, I can't say the same for Marta Torres.

I don't know if she was looking for a "youthful" appearance, but I found that her concepts just smacked of infantilism -- especially the shot with the black shorts, yellow knee-highs, white, collared top and sweater, and a crown...

The tunics are straight out of kindergarten, and so is the yellow smock that children would use for fingerpainting.

In today's day and age when so many people are already freaked out by pedophiles in the news, and men are already stigmatized in the mainstream when they try to break out of the binary gender molds and grey-black and wear things that are unusual or inconsistent with the norm, something like this just doesn't sit well with me.

I have no problem with gender fluidity and with more feminine styles for men, but I really do prefer when men are portrayed as men rather than little boys. And conversely, I also get a little nervous when mature women are portrayed as little girls. While I do understand that it may be the designer's intention to show something "cute," it's just way too easy for it to be misunderstood and seen as creepy, especially when you know that there really are some deviant people out there for whom this would feed, and even legitimize their desires.
