Waltzing Olympians

Spread the Wings of Tolerance

Most of the inhabitants of Mount Olympus have been invited to Vienna's fancy Life Ball this year. The event, to take place in the "City of my Dreams"  next May the 21st,  aims to generate large amounts of donations, in order to fight HIV and AIDS on a national and international basis.

Celebrating the joy of life and the diversity of cultures, Life Ball unites the Viennese ball tradition with opulence, extravagance, glamour, provocation, fancy performances, committed speeches as well as emotional moments.

A large number of Greek Mythological creatures will seemingly be in attendance, stating with Zeus himself,  the god of sky and thunder, king of the gods, as well as his father, Cronus, begetter of time, clearly depicted with his sickle and a sand-clock.

Other easily identified characters are Narcissus holding on to his mirror, Icarus falling from the sky, Hermes displaying his winged hat and a gem-studded caduceus...

I'm leaving the rest of the Olympic iconography for you to decipher. And to enjoy the kitschy, fanciful costumes!
